Ditch Stress With The Practice of Yoga

Stress is very common these days, and we cannot deny the fact that there are too many people who are leading lives that are practically guaranteed to induce it. We know that a stressful state causes serious problems which are detrimental to our health.

So, it is really recommended for us to find ways to get rid of it and to keep our cortisol levels low. Most health experts say that a combination of good diet, including fresh fruit and vegetable juice, and regular physical exercise may help us in coping with stress - and they are absolutely right.

When I say good diet, I'm referring to a balanced diet that can provide all the essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals that our body needs in order to survive. In general, most health experts and nutritionist recommend eating plenty fresh fruits and vegetables, which are full of phyto-nutrients and antioxidants.

In addition to eating healthy foods, we are also recommended to live a healthy lifestyle through doing regular physical exercise that can help us ditch stress. One kind of physical exercise that is good for getting rid of stress hormones is Yoga.

Why Choose Yoga?

Yoga is a combination of physical, mental, and spiritual exercise which is believed to help calm the mind and relax the body. This activity is not a religion, and this is definitely not a cult. Though it was practiced thousands of years ago, most people these days are looking at Yoga in a more modern approach.

Contrary to what many people are thinking, the practice of Yoga is not a practice of religion or worship. As a matter of fact, people may just practice the physical part of of the discipline, which is known as Asanas or Yoga postures, if they do not like to do the spiritual part such as chanting.

Usually, the practice of this discipline is often paired with meditation. This is necessary in order to bring calmness to the mind, which is essential before one can practice Asanas.

If the mind is centered, a person will have more physical strength and balance, which are both needed for the practice of Yoga Asanas. Through meditation, one can also feel inner peace, which is really good for those of you who are suffering from stress.

Types to Choose

There are several types of Yoga practice to choose from. If you want to have a powerful practice which can help bring balance to both the body and mind, then I would recommend Ashtanga Yoga. This type is a progressive practice, and you will see your progress over time and with continuous practice. Ashtanga Yoga can help us build strength and enhance our flexibility.

This promotes detoxification through profuse sweating, which can be very cleansing.

If you just prefer to practice a soft or gentle form of Yoga flow, then Open Vinyasa may be the one that you are looking for. This type of class is good for those who want to have a good cardiovascular exercise and seeking for a calming practice.

Open Vinyasa is a breath-synchronized Yoga flow, which is also good for internal cleansing, but is not as intense as Ashtanga. Another form of Yoga which is known to be healing and restorative is the Yin Yoga, which targets the joints. This form is ideal for individuals who just like to relax and have inner calmness and peace.
